La enfermedad afecta a las neuronas productoras de dopamina, responsables de indicar al cerebro que se mueva. Las personas diagnosticadas presentan niveles bajos o nulos de neuronas productoras de dopamina.<\/p>\n<p>Las primeras etapas de la EP incluyen p\u00e9rdida del olfato, escritura que se hace m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a con el tiempo y un temblor leve en el dedo, el pulgar, la mano o el ment\u00f3n mientras est\u00e1 en reposo.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>S\u00edntomas<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad de Parkinson var\u00eda seg\u00fan la persona y se desarrolla lentamente. Existen cinco etapas que van desde cero (sin s\u00edntomas) hasta la etapa 5, que representa la progresi\u00f3n m\u00e1s alta de la EP. Si bien la enfermedad en s\u00ed no es mortal, las complicaciones pueden ser graves. Generalmente, los s\u00edntomas comunes tras su aparici\u00f3n pueden incluir:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Temblor \u2013<\/u><\/strong> Principalmente en reposo. Parece un movimiento similar al de &quot;rodar una pastilla&quot;.
